WHEN THE SEA TAKES THE LAND

The end of land, return to water.
It feels the same from the other side.
A berth of mud, a house of waves to live in.

I knew that it was far away,
they told me it had to come today.
Suddenly a signal had been given.

Oh, I see it coming.
For miles and miles it rushes through the sand.
Worries fade away,
on the day when the sea takes the land.

Another painting, (a) change of subject.
I lost my sense of time,
I’ve left it somewhere in between this high and low tide.

No struggle between land and water.
A delegation of elements.
For so long, and I’ll be there for just one night.

Oh, I see it coming.
For miles and miles it rushes through the sand.
Worries fade away, on the day
when the sea takes the land.

But then, at that moment, I’m suddenly aware of
the frontier that’s getting near.
Is it gonna come too far?
This moment of doubt is taken away.
I close my eyes, I can hear you say;
“I’m going back, I’ve had enough, today…”

Then for some reason the water stops coming.
Point of height today.
A silent challenge, with the water at my feet.

I wave to you, you smile at me.
You showed me where you’ve got to be.
If I’m here again tomorrow, we will meet!

Oh, I see you leaving.
The gods of water, I think they’re leaving me.
My worries fade away,
as new land is given by the sea.
