DEEP DOWN INSIDE

If I’m wrong, please tell me what’s right.
Did I smile, when I should have cried.
I’m standing here, in your shadow.
And a dream has flown away.

But I can’t read your mind, it’s too dark to see the letters,
you wrote, to tell me the truth.

Deep down inside, I know it aint right.
When we say goodbye.

Is this how it’s gonna be, tell me before tomorrow.
Because the weather is getting better all the time.
Everybody is outside, so I won’t feel too much alone.
And I raise a glass to a new future, which will start tonight.

It’s all a waste of time, all these memories like water,
left behind, under a desert sky.

Deep down inside, I know it aint right.
When we say goodbye.

The door is closed and there’s no key.
A final sunset for you and me.
The chapter of farewell is written,
with a capital F.
Does it mean eternal separation,
a new game, full of new chances?
Put out the light and feel the darkness.
‘Opus terminatum’.

But deep down inside,
I still know it aint right…..

If I was wrong, please tell me what’s right.
Did I smile, when I should have cried.
I was standing there, in your shadow.
And a dream had flown away.

But deep down inside, I know it aint right.
When we say goodbye.

Deep down inside, I know it aint right.
When we say goodbye.

But deep down inside…….
