CYBER RENDEZ-VOUS

An average house in uptown nowhere.
Excuses on and on, to be alone.
The power switch turned on,
the programme gives it’s message;
‘94 items of incoming mail’.

That night his daughter asked for reasons;
“Why is daddy never here anymore?”
And when he tried to call his son,
he shouted a password;
First name @ (Ed) with a family name Dot Com.

“I’m standing on the edge of decline,
not knowing where to draw the line.
Completely lost my sense of time…”

“Another cyber rendez-vous to reply.
I can’t denote the reasons why.
An addiction, it dissolves my mind…”

Attracted by the ‘world wide’ spider.
A wireless infusion straight to the brains.
No button to return.
Defeated by desire,
for a one-night-stand with the rest of the world.

“But I’ll lose my home my friends and family,
if I don’t get my feet back on the ground.
If the damage is done,
I’ll go online forever,
and disappear, to another virtual life.”

“I’m standing on the edge of decline,
I don’t know where to draw the line.
Completely lost my sense of time…”

“Another cyber rendez-vous to reply.
I can’t detain; I don’t know why.
This addiction, it erodes my mind…”

“I’m standing on the edge of decline.
Not knowing where to draw a line.
Completely lost all sense of time…”

“Another cyber rendez-vous to reply.
(I) can’t denote the reason why.
This addiction, it dissolves my mind…”

“I’m standing on the edge of time.
I don’t know where to draw the line.
I’ve lost my senses, I resign…”

“Another cyber rendez-vous to reply.
I can’t detain; I don’t know why.
This addiction, it absorbes my life…”
